A free day of music popping up across Deptford and New Cross. Join us to celebrate Lewisham’s role in sound system culture.

A trail of sound systems in venues and outdoor locations across Deptford and New Cross will celebrate Lewisham’s role in sound system culture and its importance as a sanctuary for diverse communities such as Lewisham’s Global Majority,  LGBTQI+, DIY, Punk and global communities. 

Featuring the legendary Dennis Bovell MBE, Turner Prize Nominees Black Obsidian Sound System, Unit 137 and World Wide FM & Lemon Lounge, Lewisham Sound System Trail.  Expect an array of musical styles reflecting our diverse community from earth shaking dub, roots reggae, global sounds, modern bass, electronic and dance music. 

This event is free and non-ticketed – come along to one event or sample them all over the course of the afternoon.

DQSD: Deptford Queer Sound System Day
Master Shipwright’s House

London’s foremost underground LGBTQ+ crews come together on the grounds of The Shipwrights House, Lewisham’s most beautiful private residence, for a day of free music. Presented in partnership with London Borough of Culture, DQSD celebrates queer sound system collectives and South London’s unique cultural heritage. Situated on a hidden Deptford backstreet, this riverside garden will host an old school sound system with cutting edge DJ’s all day long.

Presented in partnership with the Albany, Love Music Hate Racism and R3 Sound system, this event promises to remember and celebrate South London’s rich sound system heritage.

Line-up includes: OK Williams, Black Obsidian Sound  System, Gideon, Hannah Holland, Shay Malt, Deptford Northern Soul Club & Sugarbear.

Unit 137
Deptford Market Yard

Lewisham sound system Unit 137 has operated successfully as a sound, record label and event production crew since 2012 and will be playing roots, dub, jungle, dubstep, grime and more.

Line-up includes: Hylu, Ed West, Sleepy Time Ghost, Deemas J, Fea, Phoebs x Anja Ngozi, Kosher, Shumba Youth, Yuis, Alchemy All Stars & Daisy Roots Movement. Supported by U+I.

Wordwide FM (WFM) x Lemon Lounge
Creekside Artworks

WWFM is a freeform internet radio service that highlights “underground music, culture and stories from around the globe.” Founded in 2016 by DJ Gilles Peterson, the platform features a rotating roster of international radio DJs and programming. Lemon Lounge are a South London sound system & community sharing music and running workshops + talks at events across London and the UK.

Line-up includes: D’Oxman, Vandorta & Lemon Lounge Residents.

Dennis Bovell and Friends

A celebration of Reggae Roots and culture, curated by reggae legend Dennis Bovell MBE, and presented by Soho Radio.
