Poppy Nash’s textile installation, The Art of Dying (2019–), explores the complex experience of chronic illness.

This full-scale textile installation is modelled on the interior of Poppy’s flat, to which she was confined alone as a “vulnerable” patient during the pandemic.

This unique 35 metre print, funded by Arts Council England, was cut into over 200 pieces and reassembled to map the perimeter of Poppy’s isolation space. In this process, the timeline of the print becomes a chance-based collage, reflecting the disjointed nature of traumatic memory, both during and after the experience.
