We want Lewisham to get dancing!

Join a cast of hundreds of local people telling the story of Lewisham through movement and music.

Get involved in the ‘Mass Dance’ section of Close To Home: The Mass Dance Event.

What is it? This is a mass, participatory dance event directed by Alleyne Dance in partnership with IRIE! Dance theatre. You will learn set phrases of choreography through online videos, with varying skill levels available, including suggestions for accessible versions.

When? June – October 2022

From June: workshop videos are delivered online, and you can learn at your own pace.

October: 8, 15, 21 October – group rehearsals, 22, 23 October – performances. You will need to be available for at least one performance (or both, depending on your time commitments).

How much time will I need to commit? You can learn the choreography online at your own pace. Rehearsals in October will be a combination of some half days, with the final rehearsal being a full day rehearsal. Performances on the Saturday and Sunday will be early afternoon, with warm ups provided before the show.

Who is it for? Well, everyone! As long as you are interested in taking part, then this is for you. You might be an individual, a school or community group. Just be prepared to move!
