Every year since 2023, Lewisham Mencap have been honouring and sharing the cultural legacy of the local Caribbean community that many of our members are connected to.
Funding from the Lewisham Council has enabled us to host local steel drum bands like Heart of Steel or serve delicious Caribbean food prepared by Lewisham-based vendors such as Jerk Haven.
In 2026, our members with learning disabilities, their families and carers are in for a new kind of treat: a fun and inclusive dance workshop delivered by local creatives from Irie! Dance Theatre.
Special drinks and snacks will also be on the menu in our newly improved venue: window blinds have been installed to keep us cool during the Summer months and colourful bunting will be adorning our walls.
This year’s event falls on the 23rd of June from 6pm at St. Augustine’s Church in Grove Park during our Tuesday Club.
Our very own DJ Colin will be opening the party with a special range of iconic island tracks!
