The two versions of the Magnificat in our Christmas concert could not be more different: a lively baroque setting by Durante (wrongly attributed to his better-known pupil Pergolesi), and a haunting minimalist setting by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Both pieces are a joy to perform and we are sure that our audience will love them.
In celebration of Pärt’s 90th birthday year, we also include two more of his works: the beautiful Morning Star and Which Was the Son of, a splendid setting of biblical names!
And of course, no Christmas concert would be complete without a sparkling selection of carols for choir and audience.
