About

Material Circularity in Practice: Sashiko Mending Workshop will take place at BLUE GARAGE @ Materialise Lab on 4 March 2026. Following the earlier talk, this 90-minute hands-on workshop will invite participants to put circular principles into practice by learning traditional Sashiko mending techniques. Attendees will be encouraged to bring a woven garment, such as a shirt or denim, to repair, with all additional materials and equipment provided. Hosted by Madeline Tanoto and Alison Reupke, the session will focus on practical repair skills, promoting reuse, creativity, and sustainable approaches to clothing care through guided making.

What to bring: An item to mend such as denim shirt, cotton trousers or jacket, linen or cotton woven items are perfect. Avoid very stretchy, embellished, leather items.

What is provided: All sashiko materials for the workshop such as thread, needles scissors, pins, fabrics etc
