Join us on Thursday 13th August at Crofton Park Library to make your own rainstick and use it in an interactive story session!
Led by volunteer Jacqui, children will make a simple rainstick from household materials, decorate the outside, then join Jacqui to make the sounds of rain and talk about its cultural and ecological significance with an interactive storytime.
If possible, we ask each child to please bring their own paper towel tube or similar cardboard core (although we will have a few available on a first-come, first-served basis). All other materials for the craft will be provided.
This activity is free and all ages are welcome, but please note that we will use small items (such as beads, dry beans or rice, etc.) to fill our rainsticks. These small items can be a choking hazard, so this activity may not be suitable for babies or toddlers, and young children must be supervised at all times.
