About

Join us in celebrating Women’s History Month with talks about radical women in history at Forest Hill Library on Saturday 7th March.

11:00, Women and the Vote: A World Revolution. At the beginning of 1893, no women in the world had the vote in a national election, by 1963 it was a sign of national backwardness if women could not vote. Jad Adams talks about how this remarkable revolution happened, through the lives of some of the remarkable women who brought this about.

This discussion will be approximately 20-30 minutes long with time for audience questions after.

Jad Adams has developed a reputation as a historian of radicals and marginalised people. His books include Women and the Vote: A World History, Gandhi: Naked Ambition, Pankhurst, and a classic biography of Tony Benn which has recently been re-released. More information at www.jadadams.co.uk
