Libraries in Lewisham

Lewisham’s libraries are vibrant, inclusive spaces at the heart of our communities. They are places to learn, connect and take part in cultural life across the borough.

Each library provides free access to books, Wi-Fi, public computers, and a wide range of online resources including eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers, magazines, and research databases. Libraries also host a rich programme of events and activities for people of all ages, from early years storytelling and homework clubs to author talks, exhibitions, film screenings and creative workshops. Many libraries regularly feature cultural events that celebrate Lewisham’s diversity and creativity, including performances, community showcases, and heritage projects.

Lewisham Libraries also include the Local History and Archives Centre, which preserves the borough’s heritage, the Home Library Service, which delivers books and media to residents who are unable to visit in person, and the Business and Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC) which offers fully funded business support to Lewisham residents.
